(*Mad Hatter quote*) - "We're merrily celebrating your happy un-birthday!" Apparently - When this animated, musical, fantasy/adventure film was initially released back in 1951 - It was quickly met with plenty of negative criticism for (get this!) being too "Americanized". Well - My question regarding that is - What the hell did these high'n'mighty critics expect this kiddies picture to be since it was made by Americans in America? Eh? Like - Hello!? Anyway - For the most part - I quite enjoyed this particular Disney production. It was a decidedly trippy, surreal and whimsical journey down the rabbit hole that contained enough wacky and bizarre moments in it to clearly set it apart from many of the "cute & sweet" feature films that Disney Studios was noted for making during this notable era of pre-CG animation history. The 4 characters who I liked the most in this "Americanized" version of "Alice" were - Tweedledee & Tweedledum, the Mad Hatter, and of course, the outrageous Queen of Hearts ("Off with her head!").
