Alanna The First Adventure By Pierce, Tamora Book - 2005 | 1st Simon Pulse ed.

This is quite possibly my favourite series of all time. I first read it as a kid, and I regularly come back to it and read it again as an adult. Alanna is an awesome protagonist, who challenges the gender norms of her world by disguising herself as a boy and entering into training to become a knight. The world building is wonderful, the story is engaging, and Alanna herself is powerful, vulnerable, and relatable. With magic, intrigue, swordplay, and a talking cat, what more could a fantasy fan ask for? I would (and do) recommend this quartet to everyone!
