Good book for parents to read to children. I read it as an adult, and found the story compelling, but the writing more appropriate for a much younger audience. I found the mechanism used to understand August's disability (viewed from different characters' perspective) to be very effective. You learn not only about the disability, but you get a 360-degree perspective on it, allowing you to feel it more completely. Writing in these different perspectives was done well and simply enough to engage younger kids. The chapters added in the latest edition, from the perspective of the antagonist, made the overall story better. A highly emotionally intelligent book.
