This is how I read the Anita Blake novels - I skip the pages and pages of relationship discussions, vampire politics, repetitious sex, body descriptions (how many times does she have to describe everyone's hair style?), confrontations with chauvinistic officers, etc. - and just get to the sections that move the plot forward and the action sequences. After all, every one of the last maybe 15 books has had gone over the same old same old, so there's no reason to read much of this unless you are new to the series. This is junky stuff that I just read for entertainment, if you consider graphic violence entertainment. But it's cartoon violence, like watching a Twilight or other action/fantasy movie. If I didn't borrow them from the library I would not read them as I would not spend any money on them.
