Essential Tips and Shortcuts (that No One Bothers to Tell You) for Simplifying the Technology in Your Life

Pogue’s Basics: Essential Tips and Shortcuts (that no one bothers to tell you) for Simplifying the Technology in your Life. --- by --- David Pogue. It’s the basics all right. A little bit about smart phones: how to charge your Iphone battery in a hurry (in airplane mode); bit about iPads: why your iPad isn’t charging (use the wall plug that came with the iPad); cameras: when not to use the flash (whenever possible). And that’s part one: seventy three pages. And then the rest: two hundred and forty pages on computers. So really this is a book about computer tips and shortcuts. Some you already knew and some (especially the amateurs --- but not your kids) didn’t. Why you should never turn off your laptop? The magic of dropbox. How to type symbols. Free versions of Microsoft Office. Taking a picture of the windows screen. Not the kind of book I was expecting given its lofty title. But a very helpful one none the less.
