I'm still in the process of reading this, and I'm about halfway through, but I will update this review once I'm finished. I just wanted to say now that it seems like a lot of the writing is the character describing the mechanics of the game that he is trapped in. It's no secret that this takes place inside the game and because this is the first volume, it makes sense that the author would take a lot of time to explain the processes, rules, and mechanics. I just hope that the writing leans more towards the story as it goes on (and in the next volumes) and less towards Kirito taking multiple paragraphs explaining one swing of his sword or a specific combo. Otherwise, the story is very interesting, the characters are well formed, and I'm eager to keep reading. **EDIT** I'm happy to report that the repetition mostly vanishes after this volume of the series. The only reason I will not give this series a full five stars is that there are some plot holes and places in the series where characters' chronology of events don't match up or make complete logical sense. Otherwise, SOA is great fun to read and I prefer the light novels to both the manga and the anime.
