I liked Quest a little bit better than the first book, Journey, which did not have a well defined plot. In this book, the two children, now friends must stop their play due to the rain. While waiting under a bridge, an old man comes out of a door in the bridge, hands them a map and gives them a quest. They must follow the map to find all of the different colored magic markers. They use their own markers to create items to help them in their quest. In the end, all the markers together create a rainbow that defeats the bad guys. Once again, Beckers illustrations are finely detailed, but they are not as finished. The subject matter is again more mature for a picture book--burning buildings and soldiers falling out of aircraft and boats. I would recommend this for ages 6-7 and up.
