StarGladiator and Ravenheart took the words right out of my mouth. I agree with their comments entirely. Free trade is devestating America's (and Canada's) economies respectively. When you outsource work to foreigners and depend on everything being manufactured in China what else can you expect but economic demise. There was a time when things were made in America, or made in Canada but now everything is made in China and that is drastically affecting the 'middle class' in both North American nations and their manufacturing and retail sectors. Why do you think Target bombed here in Canada? Not only because their prices were higher here, but also because you can buy everything they have and more, online, from China with free shipping and no duty. When given the choice the consumer would rather stay at home in their PJ's and shop anytime of day or night as opposed to traveling to a retailer. The Canadian government has been signing free trade deals with the EU and Asia so it will only get worse before it gets better. I do however agree with Reich's opinions on Unions though and it's sad that the American government is more in favor of the private sector flourishing than encouraging and supporting it's Unions.
