Rave review in the Globe & Mail October 9, 2010. "What are the odds of an author, after publishing 20 novels, producing two stunning back-to-back books? In the world of contemporary noirish crime fiction, there’s only one writer who can pull that sort of darkness out of a hat: Michael Connelly." Harry Bosch and Mickey Haller together again. Read it non-stop this weekend. This series just keeps getting more interesting, combining the criminal investigation with courtroom drama, and the lead characters deepening and getting more complex. Gives us more on the uneasy relationship between half-brothers Bosch and Haller, and the unfamiliar role for Bosch as father to a teenage daughter who likes to correct his grammar. Less of the home alone listening to jazz, drinking and cleaning his guns, and more of the school run. Bosch also re-connects with old flame and brilliant FBI agent Rachel Walling, who smells yet another serial killer. Okay Harry, so maybe when you have a serial killer lurking outside your home at night burning a candle on the dash, maybe you should get the kid out of town.
