Good - American Violet (2008) 103 min. Racism is alive and well in the new millennium. Southern U.S. still harbours resentments and anger towards the African-American as demonstrated in the film based on a true story. Nicole Beharie plays the mother of four who is erroneously arrested for distributing drugs. The District Attorney has a vendetta towards all African Americans and uses that hate to make law enforcement decisions. The film never lets up as Beharie’s character has to decide whether to assist the ACLU against this particular D.A. Entertaining eye-opener of the judicial system in the U.S.
