Delightful and exciting, colorful and wondrous, a rousing superheroic adventure and a terrific reboot/retelling of the beginning of Billy Batson's adventures as Captain Marvel. It manages to be smart and sarcastic and condemning of government corruption, mass media stupidity, and a society that allows children to live on the streets, without falling into curmudgeonly cynicism. It manages to be earnest about its superheroics without being dumb or simplistic. I wish more contemporary superhero stories were like this.

Well done remake of the origin of Captain Marvel, but the hero is still thin on motivation.
