Very funny. I liked it.

Edgar the bug was a pretty witty idea for an alien based villain. The film also had very entertaining dialogue that didn't pander to audiences like most action films did. Frankly, a really innovative idea film. Sequel was a bit hard to swallow though.

This is a 1997 American SF action comedy directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, based on Lowell Cunningham's "The Men in Black" comic book series, originally published by Marvel and Malibu Comics.
It is about two agents of a secret organization called "Men in Black" who supervise extraterrestrial lifeforms who live on Earth and hide their existence from ordinary humans.
The film features the creature effects and makeup of Rick Baker and visual effects by Industrial Light & Magic.
The special effects, makeup and storyline are not so realistic and believable that I quit watching the film after 30 minutes.
This is NOT definitely my cup of tea!

The best of the trilogy, and one of the funniest movies of all time.

MiB is the one that started the franchise and, frankly, is the best of the trilogy. For anyone that likes SciFi and cop movies.

This science-fiction satire is proof that, with a well written script and a solid cast of actors (not just names on a poster), a coherent and witty film can come forth. It plays for laughs the conventions any sci-fi fan knows -- in fact, any general viewer would know the typical alien-comes-to-Earth narrative. It has incredibly good special effects, not just considering the leaps and bounds VFX makes as time goes on, but on its own merits. The only embarassment this film suffers is that it was the first in what would turn out to be a franchise of half-hearted films that make lame jokes and erase the true heartstring-tugging message (re: Agent K's future) of the original. You can tune out and enjoy this film, but if you keep your brain ticking, you see multiple levels of wise writing and A-level acting, with so many messages and even more gags that multiple screenings are highly necessary. In the end, this blockbuster truly spells quality -- hard to find, but easy to love.

The special effects in this movie are terrific, the acting is very good, and it has a fantastic storyline. I would recommend this movie to fans of more comedic science fiction.

Funny film that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Jay: No, what you remember is that you used to drive that old busted joint. See, I drive... the new hotness. [points at Kay] Old and busted. [points at himself] New hotness. [K looks at J for a second, then J hands the keys over] Old, busted hotness.

Jay: Zed, don't you guys ever get any sleep around here?
Zed: The twins keep us on Centaurian time, standard thirty-seven hour day. Give it a few months. You'll get used to it... or you'll have a psychotic episode.

Kay: All right, kid, here's the deal. At any given time there are approximately 1500 aliens on the planet, most of them right here in Manhattan. And most of them are decent enough, they're just trying to make a living.
Jay: Cab drivers?
Kay: Not as many as you'd think.

Edgar: You can have my gun, when you pry it from my cold dead fingers.
