A wonderfully written story as well as a little known history of Iran and Iranian Jews. Helpful in giving background on recent issues in the Middle East.
I cannot remember how I found this book, but I have always been glad I did. Nahai is a beautiful storyteller, twining together the lives of generations of women in Iran. From the untameable Esther to Peacock, she portrays life in a little written about community (Jews in Iran) and about a time of great passion and pain, beauty and ugliness.
