Add a CommentLoved it. Especially seeing Sam Waterston playing completely against type. Fonda, Tomlin and Sheen all excellent.
Very enjoyable comedy. It's especially a treat to see Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda as older women bonding. Lily Tomlin's character is especially lovable. The story is of course a bit hard to believe and ridiculous, but so what! It makes for a hilarious, entertaining and fun comedy. I think Sam Waterston is very cute in this comedy role, as we are used to seeing him in Law and Order. Here he is hilarious maybe because it's hard to believe.
The two women start as adversaries and become fast friends in the second season. I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope there is a third season!
Why do we need Fonda at nearly 80yo and Tomlin at 77 to lie about their ages? Yes this is another show that Hollywood thinks it's relevant because it's about rich white people like the Clintons. Hillary lost because the working class doesn't care what Hollywood 'feels'. If it was about the Brown family breaking up after their son was killed during his crime, no white person would care. To my point some misguided person wrote this: To see Gay men experiencing the same problems as women is very reassuring that we are all human. Have not straight men experience this? Gay women? It's a far fetch comedy. Waterson was never straight and Fonda never wanted a partner. And the kids are douses just like Trumps kids and Chelsea Clinton. Have a show with black guys who leave their wives after 20 of banging in prison
Love this show, love Lily and Jane. Sam is very hard to watch and unbelievable in the role but Sheen is a GAS! Can't wait to see more of this!
Absolutely loved it. The premise just enables us to identify with the rest of the fortunes and misfortunes. To see Gay men experiencing the same problems as women is very reassuring that we are all human.
Although we enjoyed seeing Tomlin in this, and it is nice to see some more mature faces, the premise is a bit ridiculous as is the relationship as portrayed by Sheen and Waterston- just not believable. Often crude and over-the-top- just not our cup of tea.
