I liked a few songs, but the overall effect is a bit morose...
this album is interesting in a good way.
This album definitely holds a special place in my heart. There's just something about Jack Antonoff's music that's nostalgic, grieving and optimistic at the same time. Upbeat anthem songs tracks like "Don't Take the Money" and "Hate That You Know Me" exist alongside mellower reflective tracks like "All My Heroes" and "Nothing Is U," plus some very interesting experiments in the form of "Goodmorning" and "Dream of Mickey Mantle."
Some favourite lines:
"You steal the air out of my lungs, you make me feel it
I'll pay for everything we lost, buy back the secrets." - (Don't Take the Money)
"All the nights I don't remember
Are the ones I can't forget
When all your heroes get tired
I'll be something better yet" - (All My Heroes)
