Read this book, start to finish, in a single sitting during a single day of vacation. You will too.
The story it tells is true and interesting. Even more-so when the author becomes part of the lives of the subjects, following their high school graduation.
It was interesting to see how much she expected of these teens. Even my own children, who have been given every opportunity, would've likely screwed up in similar ways as these two did.
But love conquers all. I hope the boys have grown into wonderful young men and am certain, if they have, that the author had some small part in making that happen.
A good story, well told. What more could one ask for?
Absolutely beautiful story about 3 courageous people! I remember seeing part of this story on ESPN and felt so touched by the young men it featured. This book is emotional and very well written (keep a box of Kleenex handy!!).
Amazing and fascinating story. Seems like a classic urban tale, but it isn't all hearts and flowers. The author is a Christian but you don't discover that until farther in the book--she's not preachy at all and lives her faith, and Christianity doesn't neatly tie up all the loose ends--that's not how life works. Another story where you want to look up these folks and see how they're doing.
Almost more about the authors life than the two guys, but still ok
