Very good overview on fighting the world's most difficult diseases, from a former insider at the CDC. Among the insights are why it took nearly seven years to find the person behind the 2001 anthrax attacks (even though the answer, in retrospect, was staring in the faces of the investigators); how the eradication of smallpox actually allowed other diseases to spread like wildfire; and why corporate agriculture has a large part of the blame when it comes to outbreaks that infect farms so frequently.

In this book, Ali Khan highlights specific examples of flaws in our world's public health system. The book warns us of the potential consequences of those flaws in the event of a pandemic.

This book is highly informative and could be interpreted as "speculative non-fiction."
