Enjoyable without any great depths. It is mostly routine James Bond fare, although it made one point that surprised me. In the Bond world, spies are basically at war with each other and they must kill or be killed. In this movie, though, spies can also trade with each other, which I thought was an interesting variation.

Would recommend only if you are a fan of British espionage flicks. This one is a bit plodding in many spots.

Zero character development - lost interest half way through.

A feature film follow up to the British television series, bringing back Harry Pearce, who's taken a fall professionally speaking after an operation goes terribly wrong. He finds himself working with a former agent to track down a terrorist now on the loose in England, while also contending with betrayal from within. Intriguing and cerebral, and Peter Firth carries the story well with his world weary, cynical performance as the disgraced spymaster.

LOL! It should stick with its original title "Spooks: The Greater Good." Thought it was Mission Impossible 5. Even the plot resembled M:I-5 Rogue Nation. Anyway, the MI chief had to break rules and make ruthless decisions to ensure the survival of his organization of British Spooks after a FUBAR incident. No mega stars and ultra stunts as M:I-5 but made up with an intriguing cloak-and-dagger though most unlikely script.

Good movie, poor choice of cover art; more intrigue than action. If you like a good spy story with lots of ambiguity about who are the good guys (and gals) and who the bad, it's worth a watch.

Quite a good film, held together by Peter Firth. Kit Harrington was pretty good as a former agent and this film should help him to get better film roles.

You might find this movie a bit disappointing if you were a fan of the MI5 series on TV. The storyline is not as convincing and I did not find it as thrilling as the weekly shows......But since all the intriguing characters on the tv series are gone (Adam, Roz, Lucas, Ruth, Connie) the movie did its best. Still enjoyable and I would recommend it.

I don't expect you to trust me. Look at it yourself, that's all I'm asking.
-What do you expect, Harry? Loyalty? Gratitude because you helped my mum with the rent and dropped by twice a year to give me a fxcking lecture?
===
The good ones tend not to last, Will.
-Then who does?
The ones like me.

So what's your plan? Blow my brains out for my 10-year-old niece to find?
-No. I simply want to offer you... A way out.
===
Oh, you don't understand. No one's going to see you as a hero. By the time we've finished, you'll be a drunken, wife-beating, impotent kafir. We'll wheel out a couple of Marrakech rent boys, give them free tickets to Disneyland in return for saying you begged them to piss on you.

I'm trying to help and he practically accuses me of moonlighting for the CIA.
