The Eighth Story. Nineteen Years Later.

Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage.  The play will receive its world premiere in London's West End on July 30, 2016.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted.  As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

There was a lot of hype surrounding this book, so I was apprehensive about reading given that the first seven books were so good and ended so well. I’m a diehard Harry Potter fan, though, so I had to read this book!

There were a few things that I didn’t like about this book. First, the format ... Read More »

I thought this was just "okay." It definitely had some really cute moments in the story, but overall a part of me was wondering why this story needed to exist in the first place. The other issue is the format -- plays really are meant to be seen and just reading the text alone made me f... Read More »

Um...
i think we were all curious of what was going to happen to harry and his friends ater the battle of Hogwarts, and I was really suprised of what became of them.
Even though this book did fill me in about Harry's life after the battle of Hogwarts, I still think that this book was not as enjoyable as the series.
But overall; I think this book was fun to read~ > <

I really enjoyed reading this book- I do wish that jk had kept her rules of time travel consistent with the original canon, but it was a fun, quick read, and I'd love to see the play in person.

I use to be Harry potters biggest fan but this just changed my mood (really J.K Rowling really?) The harry potter series was better of without this book it was not that bad at some points but if you look at the other books in the Harry potter Series this seems like a time waste its was so boring at times I actually put down the book about the kids going back and time and wrecking the past meaning the good memories of harry potter hurts me

I got chills on the first paragraph and was bawling by page 11! Loved it!

Now that Harry Potter is an adult, his own sons are attending Hogwarts. But new threats emerge when a past evil enemy rise again and this time, it's up to Harry's son to save the day. As a fan of the Harry Potter series, getting a new installment of one of the best book series is a true delight. Also, fans of dialogue will especially enjoy this book because it is almost completely comprised of it.

My honest opinion:

I am a devoted Harry Potter fan, having read the series three times, listened to the audiobooks once, and watched the movies who knows how many times. I love the intriguing story of Harry, Ron, and Hermione. The books are among my favourites.

But, I have to say, I was sorely disappointed by 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.' It was boring, the plot was terrible, and it overall cast a damper on the rest of the Harry Potter series. I hated the way the book portrayed Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Albus: immoral and stupid. Throughout the entire story, I was like: "Did J.K. Rowling really write this?"

I do not recommend 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.' It is close to being one of the worst books I have read. If someone gave this book to me for my birthday, Christmas, Easter, etc., I would only keep to tell people about how terrible it is.

This book was confusing at first but gets easier to understand through out the story.

So good to be back in the magic world of Harry Potter. Teenage rebellion can be even more scary when the teenager is a witch!

We have no idea where they are or when they are. Searching in time when you’ve no idea where in time to search, that’s a fool’s errand. No, love won’t do it and nor will a Time-Turner, I’m afraid. It’s up to our sons now — they’re the only ones who can save us.

Of course I loved you . . . and I knew that it would happen all over again . . . that where I loved, I would cause irreparable damage. I am no fit person to love . . . I have never loved without causing harm. … I was blind. That is what love does. … there is never a perfect answer in this messy, emotional world. Perfection is beyond the reach of humankind, beyond the reach of magic. In every shining moment of happiness is that drop of poison: the knowledge that pain will come again. Be honest to those you love, show your pain. To suffer is as human as to breathe. … Those that we love never truly leave us, Harry. There are things that death cannot touch. Paint . . . and memory . . . and love.

Love blinds. We have both tried to give our sons, not what they needed, but what we needed. We’ve been so busy trying to rewrite our own pasts, we’ve blighted their present.
