Be a good sport, work hard, winning isn't everything message which is universally appropriate for "kids of all ages" from 1 to 101. If I were to get technically nitpicky about it, the rhythm and rhyme scheme were both a bit off (which is really annoying; why don't editors catch that more often??) but the growth mindset message was sound.

My nine-year-old and I recommend this book for kids who struggle with perfectionism and learning how to be a good sport. It reminds me of the great quote from Thomas Edison, "I haven't failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."
