I loved this series and was looking forward to next series to bad it will not be.
I was completely rapt in this series -- an excellent cast intertwined in a web of dark suspense. Good stuff. FIVE STARS.
Stylish and macabre. Exotic and erotic.. A fascinating take on classic horrors.
My only minor complaint is the Dreadful dull lighting in many scenes. Deliberately done, I assume. The same scenes shown in the bonus section were in vibrant colours.
A common practice to convey gloomy moodiness, I suppose. Unnecessary and a waste.
Season 2 was a great follow-up to season 1. Plenty of suspense, thrills and what not. I definitely recommend it if you're into supernatural story lines.
Penny Dreadful just keeps getting better. We discover more about the characters past histories and the plot becomes more complex. I enjoyed season 1, found season 2 was great. I really enjoyed Billie Piper's evolving character and performance. The plot is intriguing and leaves me wanting to view season 3.
this is classy.. more like something the BBC would do than Showtime.
This is a classy scarry series.
sets are unbelievably good, acting great and the right amount of sex and horror. So much fun.
This is my absolute FAVORITE TV show on the air right now. I wish the writers at American Horror Story would go home, watch this series, and then come back next season with the influence. Penny Dreadful is a show in which Victorian monsters are brought together in a very dark drama. The costumes and sets are amazing. The acting is great. The writers are amazing and I don't have the same problem as others have had with the plot. Some history is jumbled and some locations are a little...whack...but ultimately it works. I am a huge Frankenstein fan, and this series gives me a Frankenstein's monster that I absolutely love: John Clare.
Not a boring show, but the writing isn't as good as it could be. Great acting, fantastic production, but many of the plot decisions either don't make sense or could have been better. Definitely worth watching, just don't think about it too hard.
