Overall, great! My only problem is that the climax was somewhat anticlimactic and only really made sense after the fact. The first book was better, but I'm still hooked!

This was an amazing read. I reread this book so I can reminisce about the characters that made me fall in love with Shadowhunter World. In rereading the book, I caught many details that I missed the first time I read it. I love the characters. However, Malec is my favourite ship of this series. I especially love these sweet moments as they first become a couple. Overall, an action-packed read.

This series is about as much fantasy as I go. For some reason I found the second the second half of the book harder to lose myself in than the first half.

It is fairly predictable that it races from one crisis to the next at a speedy pace. There is very little done in the way of character development. This is an action book and definitely a pulp fiction.
And lets not get too deep into discussing the whole "Incestuous" relationship between Clary and Jace. That was just plain creepy. Like, "Dude, that like your sister that you're making eyes at." Ewwww. There is nothing romantic about it. Would be at all surprised in later books to read that they aren't actually siblings so as to justify all of the 'meaningful moments' and kisses that they share. And I'm sure that in the next book the lose ends will be wrapped up in regards to certain characters -such as Maia - at least I hope so.

This book was OK at captivating my imagination enough to go to Book Three (City of Glass) It is high school level fiction that is gobbled up by the masses only to be forgotten in years to come. It will not stand the test of time. It is the Twilight of its generation, loved by parents because it gets their children reading, and in the end, anything that gets kids reading is a good thing. An enjoyable way to spend a couple of brainless hours taking it in

With Clary finding out that Jace is her brother she decides to date Simon instead and it his dream because he always had a big crush on her. I really liked this book it has romantic parts and fighting parts and magic.

About ten people are trying to stop/kill valentine. he is trying to fight the clave with demons so he can get the power. These ten or so people are trying to stop him and at last they stopped him for a while.

For those who have and haven't read the first book, you should definitely do that first. How could any reader simply skip ahead to this, also amazing, book before reading what happened before? But obviously, this book is a great sequel to the series, but with slightly less appeal to me personally. The cover of this book is splendid and well done! The plot line seems to move a bit more fluidly, as Clary is starting to accustom to her new surroundings and the Shadowhunter world. Her romantic life is a bit more choppy and her struggles, including her mother, only seem to add up. But, as any heroic protagonist should, she doesn't back down for anyone, even her own father. Read on to see what Clary can truly do! 4.5/5

To be quite honest I found this book less exciting than the first book. But I think overall the book focused more on the character development. I feel like the situation Jace was going through with Valentine, sort of was an eye opener for him. He still has a cocky personality, but all the traumatic things he had gone through made him rethink his actions before hurting anyone. Alec has become kinder to everyone and mostly to Clary, who he hasn't been quite fond of in the beginning. He has a more soothing demeanour now and is more approachable. Izzy is still the same but, has become more supportive of Clary. And after Simon has turned into a vampire, he has become more aware of his surroundings and, starts to think rationally. While it is nice to see the characters break out of their shells and be more thoughtful towards one another, I feel like if the book included more depth in action and supernatural activity instead of the relationships, it would have been better. But overall the book was a 4/5 and I'm looking forward to City of Glass.

This was an interesting, plot twisting book that was filled with humorous characters and magical people. This book is hard to put down and once you've read it, you're left waiting for the next one. I did find that the ending felt rushed, and unfinished but all together it was a five-star book.

Nowhere near as good as the Infernal Devices which I absolutely adored, but still entertaining and in a world that I enjoy. I went out right away to grab the next one, which says something - but I think it mostly says I'm anxious to get to to the part where it's no longer an incestuous story.
