Pilgrim is the code name for a world class and legendary secret agent. His adversary is known only as the Saracen. As a young boy, the Saracen saw his dissident father beheaded in a Saudi Arabian public square, creating a burning desire to destroy the special relationship between the US and the Kingdom. When a woman's body is found in a seedy hotel near Ground Zero, the techniques are pulled from a cult classic of forensic science that Pilgrim wrote under a pen name. In offering the NYPD assistance with the case, Pilgrim gets pulled back into the intelligence underground.

Shaping up as a sleeper bestseller and compelling can't-put-it-down summer read.
From Maximum Shelf: "A woman is found dead in a ratty New York City hotel. Despite the outward hallmarks of a "simple" murder--one motivated by rage, sex or money--it quickly becomes clear that thi... Read More »

An incredibly good and suspenseful book, I am Pilgrim reads like it is 300 pages instead of over 600. Don't let the length deter you, this book is non-stop action with a deep and all too realistic plot full of richly developed characters. Following Pilgrim around the globe as he is tasked with tracking down and stopping an unknown terrorist from unleashing a plague is a series of satisfying twists and revelations

Woah! The BEST thriller I have read so far. It has a very interesting narrative style with a web of ingeniously connected plot lines. Every character is well defined that you will be living in the world created by the author in no time. I recommend it to all mystery/thriller lovers.

Immensely intriguing thriller with all elements of a fast paced imaginative and grand scaled
plot...plot seemed so ridiculously plausible....excellent read!!!!!!!!!!

a great read following the exploits of the Pilgrim as he tracks across Europe to find the terrorist who is planning to unleash a small pox virus on the US. The story is intricately woven, delightfully filled with action and espionage. A satifying read.

The author's other writings include the Mad Max movies, Dead Calm and Payback.

Terry Hayes has plenty experience writing for action movies. His first novel is loaded. I hope there is another.

An international spy thriller and murder mystery with some sympathetic, multi=faceted characters and thought-provoking plot lines. Lots of action. It jumped around in time and place, so it's not easy to read in small bites, but a great vacation read. I'm hoping this is the first in a series.

I Am Pilgrim --- by --- Terry Hayes. You may be forgiven if you’ve never heard of this author: he’s new to the craft. Not that he hasn’t written before. As a screenwriter he’s been involved in films such as Payback and Mad Max. His eye for the cinematographic is immediately obvious right from the start of Pilgrim. This novel is a huge thriller. Set in the Middle East the plot revolves about a mujahid who has hatched a plan to loosen a smallpox epidemic upon the United States on Columbus Day. An American agent code named Pilgrim is charged with the seemingly impossible task of discovering the identity of Saracen and then bringing him to ground. Hayes has crafted a novel that is extremely complex with subplots, flashbacks and enough tension to keep you from putting this book down until you reach the
very last page. It will wow you.
