My partner and I liked this very much, as it touches on an important subject and going by the bonus features, according to some, the real science is only 20 - 30 years away.
This raises all the questions that need to be thought about, if we as a society, ever get to have an Artificial Intelligence (AI), with a conscience or worse without one.
The AI question of how to get it and what would happen, theme is dealt with through many films, also the basic idea that people do not like things that they do not understand, or fear.
The main character, played by Johnny Depp, was not the instigator of uploading his conscience, but his grieving wife was, despite objections. The story follows through with a possibility of what can happen.

Boring, immoral, and not recommended. He tries to take the place of GOD. I wouldn't try it if I was him.

I'm still hoping for AI advancement and will continue to do so until all of mankind learns to work together nicely for the common good, equality to all without prejudiced.

Merging a human mind to a computer is an old SF theme. But here's a twist: it's the mind of a brilliant computer scientist. Guess what happens when the mind controls the Internet!? Another twist: nanotechnology enhancement. Another twist: how can the omnipotent computer mind ever be defeated? Stars Johnny Depp.

Set in a frightening sci-fi world of Utilitarian terrorists fighting Hegelian totalitarianism, I'd call this a crappy hollywood romance. Much preferred Her and Ex Machina.

Its okay i guess

Starts out slow...but it gets interesting with all the technology vs. humanity stuff....intriguing!

Wow, was that bad! If you're longing for the cheesy sci-fi films Hollywood cracked out in the 1950s, this one's for you. Actually, my daughter and I had great fun mocking the ridiculous plot, the inane dialogue, and the wildly overblown technology backdrop of the movie. So it wasn't a total loss.

A bit slow moving with characters it's not easy to feel any sympathy for nor care what happens to them, no matter how unbelievable those happenings might be.

This is indeed a good movie. Very thought provoking for people who are willing to really think about the moral and what technology is changing our life in the near future. One unique feature of the story --- I think it is what upset some people who expects differently from a blockbuster Hollywood Sci-Fi movie --- is that there is no really bad enemy to defeat or kill here. Every character in the movie has their reason to do what they believe is right for humanity, even though their action may not be justified by other people's standard.

“Will Caster in lecture: For 130,000 years, our capacity to reason has remained unchanged. The combined intellect of the neuroscientists, mathematicians and... hackers... in this auditorium pales in comparison to the most basic A.I. Once online, a sentient machine will quickly overcome the limits of biology. And in a short time, its analytic power will become greater than the collective intelligence of every person born in the history of the world. So imagine such an entity with a full range of human emotion. Even self-awareness. Some scientists refer to this as "the Singularity." I call it "Transcendence."
