From the New York Times bestselling author of The Wonderful Things You Will Be comes this companion to Dream Animals -- a celebration of the imagination of children dreaming both day and night!

Emily Winfield Martin shows readers that letting their imaginations run free will lead them into fantastical day dreams. Whether cloud-gazing or wandering through a museum, reading a book or playing in a tide-pool, the children in this picture book find themselves in places inhabited by magical creatures such as dragons, unicorns, griffins, and jackalopes. A whimsical rhyme accompanies the dream-worthy illustrations.

Encouraging imagination as it takes your little one through a story about how many extra amazing things can be experienced by a daydreamer. The words are rhyming and have a mostly smooth flow as you read.

A lovely story about imagination accompanied by beautiful, vintage-inspired illustrations.

I very much enjoy books that encourage the imagination. This book, which is the companion to Dream Animals, does just that. Page after page describes ways in which day dreams may take you into worlds where the unusual or the unexpected occur.

The illustrations are beautiful and have an old-time feel like something you would see in the 1940s or 1950s. They are colorful and imaginative. The prose is in rhyme and is very mature. "In a place of hushed and quiet things/You might hear a phoenix call." I do not believe a young child will have any idea what a phoenix is, however here is a teaching opportunity. The prose is also awkward at times.

Overall this is an interesting book that I would recommend for children at least four and up.
