This show is hilarious and any avid readers can totally relate to Brick.

This second season is where the show hit its stride. The premise has remained the same: an overworked mum and dad are living a typical life and raising their three unique children. The show tries to be realistic as possible at conveying life for the middle class in the twenty-first century. There is humour in the indignity of everyday life and that is what this show hopes to highlight. Axl and Brick, two polar opposites, are my favourite characters, simply because of how different they are -- and sometimes the interesting overlap. (For example, Axl, the lazy bonehead, and Brick, the socially awkward bookworm, both have absent-minded tendencies when it comes to completing school-work.) One of the best episodes of the season (and the series) is "The Big Chill", in which Axl provides some of the most hilarious physical comedy ever, as well as the rapid-fire dialogue. Each storyline is incredibly well written, whether it be Frankie and Mike's "big chill" main plot, Axl's baby B-plot, or Sue and Brick's wall subplot. (Another great episode is "Hecks on a Plane", in which Sue finally gets the goods.) All in all, THE MIDDLE is not an intellectual endeavour, no, but it's an emotional reflection of real life and is just a pleasure to watch. I recommend it.
