In this story, a boy named Edmund is living with his sister, waiting for the arrival of their Aunty Pru. It is a gloomy night, and Edmund is in charge. An argument arouses between Sis and Edmund for the sake of food. Not being able to bear his sister's grief, Edmund sets out to get food for his sister, despite his aunt's warning to never go out anywhere without her permission. As Edmund gets delayed by an old man, Edmund returns home to find his sister missing. As Edmund is shocked with exasperation, he finds a man by the name of Dupin to finally help Edmund, but with a price - to deliver a message. As Edmund does as ordered, the stranger and Edmund return home. As Edmund answers questions to Dupin's mysterious questions, the stranger vows to solve Edmund's mystery. Together collecting clues from everywhere in Providence, Dupin solves and reveals many unknown facts to Edmund. After a mystery about to face its end along with an intriguing story, Dupin's own life's mysteries are surprisingly revealed and connected to Edmund, when Dupin immediately abandons Edmund.
