Desmond Tutu's non-denominational, multi-cultural children's book is a thing of beauty. It begins, 'Dear Child of God, what do you dream about in your loveliest dreams?' He talks about goodness, sharing, helping one another and free will. Anger and sadness are discussed as well, and the simple ways in which we can help each other overcome them. My sister is a kindergarten teacher of many years experience. She has noticed, after reading this beautiful book to her class, that if there should be a disruption or squabble amongst the children, at recess or at indoor play, some of the children will take it upon themselves to speak to the ones involved . They might say something as simple as, " We think you don't know about God's dream...." The beautiful illustrations are by LeUyen Pham. A must read for anyone interested in a gentle lesson in ethics and understanding of the human condition.
