A family's superpowers bestow not instant salvation but the miracle of accepting who they are. Instead of crimes to fight and villains to vanquish, Alek and his siblings confront inner demons, and their extraordinary abilities prove not to be magic weapons so much as expressions of their fears and longings.

Thought there would be more to this. There wasn't. Still I rated it average. Some parts were good...what if you did have "abilities"? Not super hero stuff, but thoughtful.

Our story begins with the end of Ruth’s marriage. She takes her children, Ben and Giordana, and moves in with her sister, Natalie, and her family. Almost immediately, the kids are approached by their cousin, Alek. He asks them if they’d rather be invisible or able to fly. This is where the kookiness begins. . .

Over the course of several years, Alek bestows strange and wonderful powers upon his family members. Each individual will experience a crisis, and each will discover his/her special power at that time. Whatever the special power may be, it will help the individual to face his/her demons and overcome the crisis du jour.

Strange, imaginative, and engaging.
