Todd isn't his mom, Anne, and this book shows again that he is lesser. Still, he's OK and Anne's Pern is a great world. The book really leans on "timing it" (I don't like time travel fiction) but also dips into Stranger in a Strange Land territory where lovers are shared, as are beds with large numbers of adults and children present (sex takes place more privately and off stage). I'll probably read the sequel as Anne is stepping in to untangle the mess. Don't go here if you haven't already read her Pern classics...They are far better.

This book reminds me of Anne McCaffrey's first book. Riveting characters and storyline. I can't wait to see what happens to this cast of characters.

I got into the book quite easily, and really enjoyed reading another Pern book, but found myself skimming towards the end. You pretty much know how it is going to go, but it is not getting to the point.
The last third of the book seemed a bit drawn out to me, as if the author was trying increase the word count. I also noticed that some references were never followed up on. I got a feeling that there will be another book on this line, as the main issue was not really resolved.
