Good movie! Shows how small things simple things can lead to big mess. Not really thinking how all will be conected but it is scary how all is !!!

How a small (irresponsible in this case) action can affect many lives across the world. The consequences of our interconnected lives in the global village.

A tale of how a seemingly generous action can have terrible consequences, even a world away. How simple language, class, and cultural barriers can cause things to spiral unnecessarily out of control. How those who are most like us aren't necessarily our allies, and those who seem most foreign may be the ones we need most to connect with. How a lapse in judgement can so easily take a disastrous turn. How true innocents can make irreversible and terrible mistakes. How "justice" can turn out to be neither fair nor pleasing. And so much more.

Not my cup of tea. I didn't finish watching the movie as I'd had enough. I don't doubt the ability of the filmmakers or the actors but I think the story could have been told differently in a way that wasn't, at times literally, so in your face.

Unless you enjoy being depressed, I'd advise not watching this movie.

The cinematics are good to very good. The story...a heart of darkness with few redeeming qualities or moments.

The pace is very slow and, to my mind, too roundabout.

Certainly not an easy watch, but intriguing, well put together, and beautifully shot. Multiple languages and means of (mis)communication, snap decisions that result in disaster, and tension to the hilt. Foreshadowing and suspense are a tad overplayed, especially at the end. I wouldn't recommend this film, just because it was so harrowing to sit through; at one point in the movie, when yet another person made yet another bad choice, my husband said "I hate everyone in this movie." Hats off to the filmmakers, but definitely not an 'enjoyable' movie.

Babel is an association of experiences that are generally more depressing than uplifting. I can imagine that critics could wax artspeak about this film: "Babel encapsulates the disparate experiences of seemingly unrelated events into a series of tragic eventualities that exhibit the flaws of human nature. The main characters are an allegory for the microcosm of societal woes subjugated by the irony of technological advancement."

In other words, "shit happens."

The premise of this movie is that pain is universal. However, I could not relate to any of the characters nor care for or about them.
