This book is a rare treat. I am not usually a fan of stories written solely in poetry, but this one surprised me. It is written for a young adult audience, so the content is tame, but the emotion of the "apprentice"(a "New Christian, a converso) and his slave (a Moor) are palpable. While it may not be entirely accurate, it provides a snapshot of a tenuous period in history.
