Simple, understated art briefly yet effectively explores the character of the Biblical giant Goliath as a pawn in a political/military propaganda spin game, giving the familiar story a sad, sympathetic, and thought-provoking personal angle.

The drawings are great, but the adapted story falls flat.

Completely brilliant, as I expect from Tom Gauld, and such an elegant reworking of a well known tale. It makes you rethink all those Renaissance paintings and statues depicting David and Goliath. An excellent read.

This take on a classical tale lifted me beyond a convenient fictional original - from "Goliath was blood thirsty warrior" to "Goliath was a naive outsider who was manipulated by ambitious power seekers" . The moral is - never settle for just a single point of view. You'll never read biblical stories the same way again.
