*Review based on Lord of Rage only*
Princess Breeda of Elden is awakened one night to find that her parents have been murdered by the Blood Sorcerer and watches as, with their dying breaths and the last of their magic, they send her from the palace with the consuming need to survive and avenge. She awakens without magic and with her memories incomplete in an unknown wood. After a few days she finds a cottage, where she helps herself to porridge and collapses in a bed. When she wakes up, she is surrounded by three men - one of whom is the warrior she has visited and loved in her dreams.

Osborn has raised his two younger brothers for the past ten years, since a vampire army in Elden uniforms massacred the rest of his people. For many years he supported them by working as a mercenary, since fighting was his only skill, but he eventually came to feel that was a betrayal of his Ursan heritage. Osborn decided to take his brothers to the woods, teach them a useful trade, and wait until they were grown before seeking his revenge against Elden. When he finds the blonde beauty from his dreams in his bed, he's torn between his desire for her and his former plans. And that's before he finds out who she really is...

This is an interesting twist on the Goldilocks fairy tale (I haven't figured out what tale Lord of the Vampires was supposed to be based on). I like that the heroines in the Royal House of Shadows series (so far) are strong and intelligent, knowing when and how to fight, and when to get out of the way. The climax of this story was rather abrupt and quickly dispatched, but the pacing for most of the book was good. I hope that the siblings start meeting up soon. Fortunately, I now have the rest of the books queued up on my e-book app!
