I love, loved this book. I was drawn in by all the characters . I laughed, I was in tears. Very emotional ride but a fantastic read. Saw a bit of myself in a few characters.

Highly recommend this novel.

The author is a social worker who has worked with children and this carries over in the authentic voices she gives to the children in this coming of age story. She portrays a patriarchal and superstitious society but does not convincingly integrate the broader social and political context into the story she tells. Overall, this is a nice book, perhaps too nice, and consequently somehow disappointing.

I enjoyed reading this but I think the story became a little unfocused about half way through. It was an interesting look at the culture of modern day Nigeria.

An absorbing read with characters who read as true people. Highly recommended.

Daughters Who Walk This Path is much more than the story of downtrodden women, as the author guides her characters through their lives, much is revealed about Nigerian culture and politics. This is a book that tells the in-depth story of a woman’s journey through life with all it’s heartbreak and joys. I found this to be a very real story and it left me feeling touched and inspired.
