Exceptionally funny episodes about 5 neighboring couples living in the modern day middle-class London suburbs. They all have exhausting jobs, mortgage payments, inconsiderate neighbors, cell phones ringing every 15 minutes, and basically everything that goes along with modern day middle class life. These 5 couples occasionally like to leave the suburbs behind and go on weekend motoring outings together. As you might expect, things don't always go smoothly. Cranky border control officials, getting lost, breakdowns, running out of gas, differences of opinion about almost anything, the imperious vs the commoner, the frugal vs the spendthrift, inappropriate flirting with the locals, black eyes from jealous husbands of the locals, and various degrees of police involvement along the way to smooth the ruffles. Oh, I forgot to mention bribe payments! From hence comes the comedy. There's nothing like this on American TV. Certainly nothing as realistically funny and entertaining. The closest would probably be Ray Romano's "Men of a Certain Age". The only downside is that this DVD is unfortunately not subtitled. So it can make some audio segments difficult to understand for those of us who aren't accustomed to British accents and idioms. Still, very much recommended.
