This is the second in the Vintage Magic series and the characters grow on you. I really liked the book, however I found myself getting lost in the plot late in the book and relationships of the suspects became a bit muddled for me. All in all, I found it to be an enjoyable and quick read.

I love Maddie, the clothing psychic, and her light-hearted banter with her sexy resident ghost. Her FBI on-again/off-again boyfriend Nick is away with her brother on assignment in this book and she sees a new side to Detective Werner during the investigation. Her father and Fionna have set aside a years long bitterness and now seem to be inseparable. Maddie and Eve are a pain in Werner's 'ascot' as usual and Dottie's reunion with Dante is magical.

second of a new series - 'A Veiled Deception' is the first - well-written - light reading - humourous - young woman coming into her "witch" powers - seeing visions about murders - usual love triangle - if you like Madelyn Alt you'll enjoy these

Clothes whisperer Maddie Cutler has moved from big city New York back to her hometown to open her new vintage clothing store in an old building that used to house a morgue, but now houses a resident (and friendly) ghost. With the help of family and friends, she has just a few short weeks until her grand opening to furnish and decorate the building and unpack the boxes and boxes of vintage clothing. In the process, Maddie's building is broken into, a fire across the street uncovers a murder, and human bones wrapped in an old quilt set off a string of events that require a police investigation by Detective Werner. Maddie, a psychometric still getting used to her special gift of seeing the past when she touches certain vintage clothing, and her BFF and fashionista-opposite, Even dig up clues linking the bones to the murder, much to Werner's dismay.
