This was a band I was dimly aware of, but never listened to in the early '00s. A review of their newest album on Pitchfork prompted me to pick this up, which I gather is considered their best or one of their best. I don't know what I was expecting, but I did not dig this at all. I've seen them called "alternative metal," which is a terrible term, but this feels like a slightly more palatable version of the nu metal (another terrible term) that was floating around in the late 90s/early 00s (your Korns, Your Linkin Parks, your Limp Bizkits). I like real metal, but I don't think this. I think white pony is slang for cocaine! Released on Madonna's Marverick imprint.
