I saw this many years ago, but thought it was a decent standalone movie.

My guess is: the script was "shopped around" Hollywood, looking for a Producer. It didn't seem to have anything to do with the "F&F" franchise, but the original script was modified and shoe-horned into the "F&F" franchise as a money grab.

Cool visuals, overall could be worse, I gave it a 50/50 rating.

If you like car racing movies, this one is actually pretty cool.

Ironically, a reference was made to Karate Kid. This movie is a bit like the old Chinese movies and others such as Van Damme has done. The Big Brawl (later titled; Battle Creek Brawl) by Jackie Chan is a good example. Unlike those this is more a life experience learning rather than a kung fu training movie. All the same, the main character learns and grows and becomes a better person for the experience. Whether right in step or not, this is a good addition to the Fast and Furious world.

Probably one of the worst movies in the franchise. But we got introduced to Han so that's a thing. A good thing!

Teeder09 nails it: "Fast cars. Hot Girls." That could be the tag line for the series. So FF: TD, as fans call it, is the third in the series, but, as we later learn, it takes place between the 6th and 7th film. The FF universe can be as confusing as X-Men sometimes! As first, you may wonder where Diesel, P. Walk, MR, and even weakest link JoBrew are. Instead with have some Southern kid who gets sent to Japan where he gets involved with a gang and the practice of street racing called "drifting." Rest assured, you'll leave this movie knowing all about drifting! You could say that this is the single best film made about drifting in Tokyo. Former child rapper Bow Wow shows up as his buddy. Basically, its' "Karate Kid 2" with cars and no Miyagi figure. The series would reboot with "Fast and Furious." Director Justin Lin has done a number in the series, which is now on its 8th entry. Vrooom!

Total departure from the series. No Walker. Cameo Diesel. Drifting. Foreign setting. Yakuza. What? Some nice cars, stunt driving and such, but I was unimpressed.

Not the best movie in the series. Main actor is annoying.

Forget about the plot. All about smashing and crashing of muscle cars with nice paint jobs zooming around, or "drifting" and sliding in the streets of Tokyo. The bonus material on the stunts, props and staging are more interesting.

Awesome series. Fast cars. Hot Girls.
