Perhaps the best children's story book of the last century!

READING TALKING The lift-the-flap aspect puts an emphasis on the connection between text and meaning. Most branches have this available in the "big book" collections, and that is better for storytime. If you have older children, they can help turn the page.

My toddler goes to the book shelf and pulls this down for me to read to her at night. Each time she opens a flap we make the noise of the animal behind it. She thinks it's really funny. The words are simple and it's so fun learning about each animal.

A small child wishes for a pet and the zoo keeps sending animals that are not quite right. Will the perfect pet ever arrive?

This book is always a hit with children whether read to one child alone or a large group at storytime. There are lots of great activities linked to this book on the Little big Book club's site.
Enjoy!

My 6 month old loves this book. He tries to grab the pop-outs and the animals show up. Fun to read!

This book is about a child who gets a gift from the zoo, but they can't quite get it right and send it back. Over, and over and over again until they get it right! It's a fun flap book to pull and discover what is hiding in the gifts the zoo has sent.
