I'll be honest here... The plot leaves a lot to be desired; a big junior high graduation that results in a trip to Rome where the kids only have one escort? I don't think so. However, the reason it works is the casting. Using most of the cast from the TV series was a great move, but they were so much older here, that had they forgone the junior high graduation theme, it would have been more realistic. The main person missing was Miranda, whom we learn from Lizzie, is in Mexico City. The TV series would never work without her, but here she's not really needed. The focus of the movie is Lizzie's mistaken identity and her sudden thrust into fame. For those who have seen Roman Holiday (which is my all-time favorite movie!), this could be considered a younger version of it, because the storyline here seems loosely based on that film. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, and the music rocks! It's not as good as the TV series by any means, but it's still a fun movie for the whole family!

Classic Disney at its very best! This was a clever movie with one of Disney's greatest stars-Hilary Duff and some memorable songs! Highly recommended!

From TV to Big screen - was a good 'class trip' with all the original players from the tv show. well done.
