This movie is one of pinnacles in Woody Allen's career. However, the re-working of it, Match Point, is far better, in fact it is the best movie I've seen in my life.

Decent drama, definitely not as light-hearted as other Allen movies.

The Landau-Huston half of the film works very well; comic relief half with Woody, Alda, and Mia is a disaster. Sharp cameo by Claire Bloom as The Super-Rich Wife.

This is my favorite Allen film. It has plenty of comedic and ironical dialog, an Allen trademark, however it is a very serious film. Acting powerhouse Martin Landau gives what became an Oscar winning performance for this role. My favorite part of the story, and I think the pivotal part of the story, was when he goes back and sees her dead body. All of a sudden this is real to him. Not some academic theoretical game, but real flesh and blood and HE'S responsible. The thing that sticks out to me is, what I would say is "What did you think it was going to look like"? This is 'A' quality work to be sure.
