Certainly worth watching as it is rare to find Marlowe's plays on dvd. Produced in the swinging sixties, Mckellan's portrayal as Edward II hits a high point of hysteria early on, and becomes a bit tiresome after a while.

An excellent extra on the dvd is a production of an inquiry into the controversial death of Marlowe. Excellent English classical actors portray people who knew Marlowe, including some present at his death. Three actual practicing barristers cross examine the witnesses, to prove their theories of Marlowe's probable cause of death. Surprisingly riveting!
