I liked this book as it presented a fresh change to familiar characters and settings from the previous novels. The story is compelling and fast paced. It has all the usual elements of Fforde's writing. Lots of fun.

I love this series, but missed Outland protagonist Thursday Next in this book :/

It is a time of unrest in the BookWorld. Only the diplomatic skills of ace literary detective Thursday Next can avert a devastating genre war. But a week before the peace talks, Thursday vanishes. Has she simply returned home to the…

Mr. Fforde’s BookWorld becomes increasingly more elaborate and detailed with every succeeding novel that comprises the Thursday Next series. In this book he’s outdone himself, ranging over practically every known genre and subgenre of…

I enjoyed this book, but it's not my favourite in the series. I thought there was a lot of explaining of Book World , which was a bit unnecessary. Otherwise, it was a nice change having the Written Thursday's perspective for this book. …

The real Thursday Next is missing, so her fictional counterpart is called to replace her in order to secure some book world peace talks. All while trying to keep her five books running in the face of an uprising from the secondary…

Perhaps a bit thinner than the other Thursday Next novels. A rather complicated plotting of the character, and I'm not entirely sure it was resolved.

As always Fforde is fey, smart and fun. An eclectic reader's delight.

Started slower than the others but it was a good read and the depth of character for the same character was very good. Can't wait for the next one.

A cute premise, but hard to wade thru all the puns and non sequiters. I quit after 40 pages.

I thoroughly enjoyed it! It's a while since I've read the earlier Thursday Next books, but I was able to follow along with everything that was happening.

Fforde has given this book a good plot, however it was at times slow. I still appreciate all the details he's given the Book World. But the story didn't get me racing through the pages like his earlier novels. It's almost like my…

Extra points for this sixth book in the series for not being a complete retread. Fforde keeps most of the story in Book World, the setting that he clearly enjoys more than alternate-timeline-England. It's still very meta, but the story is…

While I love Jasper Fforde and his Thursday series, I can't help but watch his slipping editorial standards with regret. Characters have mysterious name changes part-way through, then revert to their original IDs. Grammar and syntax…

The ?book version' of Thursday steps in to solve a Book World mystery along with a delightful new character named Sprokett. What an imagination. Glad I got to be along for the ride. [You might be a little lost if you read this one prior…
