“Life in Canada Café” offers adult newcomers a friendly and familiar setting
to practice English and gain a better understanding of life in Canada.
Each session begins with a cup of coffee and casual group
conversations—just like chatting with friends—followed by an engaging
discussion on practical topics related to everyday living in York
Region. Participants will develop their language skills and local
knowledge in a fun, relaxed, and welcoming environment
- Program Objectives:
- Utilize coffee chats as a relaxed and natural setting to enhance participants’ English speaking and listening skills.
- Engage learners with practical and relevant topics, including smart
shopping, Canadian weather and skincare, popular foods and dining
experiences, seasonal activities, and major Canadian holidays.
- Foster newcomer settlement by integrating English language learning with
opportunities for meaningful community connection and engagement.
- Program Eligibility:
- Newcomers who are Permanent Residents, Convention Refugees and Live-in Caregivers.
- Target participants: Newcomers ages from 18 – 55 years
- Group size: 12–14 participant

Cross-Cultural Community Services Association (TCCSA) and will be
facilitated in English.
