Description

Are you interested in hearing people's journeys to Canada? Do you want to know how to collect your own life story for your descendants? Join us for a special program with author Carol Williams-Wong on how she collected her life story including her journey of immigration to Canada, and the importance of why others should also collect their life stories. She was invited to be a part of the National Archives of Canada project - “Canada 150 : Our Canada, Our Stories” - collecting life stories of Canadian Immigrants in celebration of Canada's 150th. Anniversary since Confederation in 2017.

Chinese-Jamaican immigrant, Carol came to Canada three times during the 1960's, the 1970's and the 1980's so she was requested to write three volumes of her experiences, including receiving her Canadian Citizenship and settling down in the historical village of Unionville in the City of Markham. Her unwavering involvement within her community of Markham, the most diverse City in Canada, earned her a lifetime membership at the Unionville Tennis Club in 1993 and the Meritorious Award in the Mayor's Seniors Hall of Fame in 2013. Carol's 5 published books covers these life stories and also serve as valued legacies and provide an interesting read for book lovers of memoirs:

-Letters to my Grandchildren – Vol. 1 / Vol.11 / Vol.111

-Conversation with a Hakka Dragon Lady – Book 1 / Book 2
