Language Building (Part 1- Foundation and Communication), Part 2 (Expanding and Conversation)

11:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Description

** Please Note: This is a 2 part workshop; therefore, please try to attend both sessions. **

Part 1: Foundation and Communication

This workshop will guide caregivers/educators to identify language milestones and barriers to maximize communication opportunities with their children at home and in the community.

You will learn strategies for establishing communication interest, foundation communication skills, and social interactions such as joint attention, eye contact, play, listening, and more. These skills are the foundation for language development. You can take home ideas and resources on how to encourage communication and connection with your child.

Part 2: Expanding and Conversation

“My child is still talking in simple words and not able to have a conversation”, “My child is stuck talking about the same topics over and over again.” This workshop will cover language development from words to phrases, and maintaining a meaningful conversation. We will then follow with strategies on how to expand vocabulary into functional social conversations at home and in the community.

This 2 part series workshop is presented in partnership with Aspiration & Discoveries Therapy and Education Centre.
