Black History Month Artist Talk

7:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Description

Join us for an artist talk to celebrate Black History Month!

M.Falconer is a Toronto based self-taught visual artist. Her work is strongly influenced by North American Black pop culture because it's the form of culture she identifies with the most. Her paintings foster a sense of self-love, empowerment, representation, community and culture. She describes her style as "Black Pop Art" due to her use of a bold and unconventional colour palette. Her mission is to use art to inspire her community and to represent the culture.

M.Falconer started painting in 2014 while still a student in university. What started out as an outlet to escape her studies quickly grew into a full-time art career. Since then M.Falconer has had the opportunity to exhibit in various locations in Canada, including at the Art Gallery of Ontario and Nuit Blanche, and has been commissioned for various projects with media households such as FLARE, the HuffPost, PBS and CBC/Radio-Canada among others.
